Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Balanced Manna ("we", "us") is a nutrition and body-management web application operated by Balanced Manna. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What the service does

Balanced Manna lets you log food, water, weight, workouts and steps; view calorie, macronutrient and micronutrient totals; plan meals; and generate shopping lists. Some features require a paid subscription (see section 5).

3. Not medical advice

This is the most important term in this document. Balanced Manna is a general wellness and information tool. It is not a medical device, and nothing it shows you — calorie targets, nutrient goals, meal plans, warnings or recommendations — is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

• Always consult a qualified doctor or registered dietitian before changing your diet, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, under 18, have a medical condition such as diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease or an eating disorder, or take medication.
• Never disregard or delay professional medical advice because of something you read here.
• Calorie and nutrient targets are estimates from standard formulas, not clinical prescriptions, and may not suit you.
• The optional health-condition and allergy settings adjust suggestions only. They are not a safety system. Always read the actual product label before eating anything you are allergic to.

4. Nutrition data is approximate

Nutrition figures come from public and community-maintained sources — including Open Food Facts (licensed under the ODbL), published restaurant nutrition information, and standard reference values — as well as items you enter yourself. Values are estimates and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Product formulations change. Saturated fat and allergen tags are in part derived automatically and should be treated as a hint, never as fact. Verify anything that matters to your health against the product's own label.

5. Accounts, plans and billing

You must give accurate registration details and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.

• Free plan. Core logging, targets, nutrient tracking, manual meal planning and history are free.
• Premium. An optional subscription (currently $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year, in US dollars) unlocking automatic meal planning, the shopping list, pantry tracking, menu styles, camera barcode scanning and data export.
• Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. You authorise us to charge your payment method each period.
• Payments. Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
• Price changes. We may change prices, with at least 30 days' notice by email before it affects your renewal. Continuing after that is acceptance; if you disagree, cancel.

6. Cancellation and refunds

• Cancel at any time: open the ⚙ Account menu, choose Plan, then Manage billing / cancel. No cancellation fee.
• Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for, then move to the Free plan.
• Payments are otherwise non-refundable, including for partial periods and periods where you did not use the service.
• If you were charged in error, or something on our side stopped Premium working, email support@balancedmanna.com within 30 days and we will look into it and refund where fair.
• Your data stays on the Free plan after cancelling — logs and history are not deleted.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use the service to break the law; don't attempt to access other people's accounts or our systems; don't scrape, resell or redistribute the food database in bulk; don't upload malicious content; and don't disrupt the service for others.

8. Your content

The data you enter stays yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store and process it in order to run the service for you. You can export your data or delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

9. Availability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we may change or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice before discontinuing a paid feature, and refund any period paid for but not delivered.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Balanced Manna is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for any health outcome arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time from ⚙ Account → Settings. Deleting your account removes your logs, measurements and history permanently. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in the app before taking effect. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
